My Nose Hurts!

Rockets rookie defenseman Collin Bowman has no time to stop and smell the roses in his rookie season in the Western Hockey League. Even if he had the time, it would be a tough thing to do after his nose was broken in a fight Friday night against the Kootenay Ice. Bowman elected to dance with Penticton resident Jordan Wilkins, and found himself not only leaving the ice after the scrap with a bloody nose, but a broken one too boot. Bowman missed Saturday’s game against Prince George and isn’t likely to see action in back-to-back home games against Kamloops and Portland this weekend. When he does return, he’ll be fitted with a full facial shield, something he should be used to after playing with one just last season.
  • The Kelowna Rockets could be minus two players on their Eastern division road trip next month. Defenseman Luke Schenn will certainly get an invited to the Canadian World Junior training camp in Calgary, while forward Milan Kitnar is expected to play for team Slovakia. Rockets defenseman Tyson Barrie will be unavailable to the team after the Christmas break as he plays for team Pacific at the Under 17’s.
  • The only bad news with Luke Schenn potentially not playing for the Rockets on their Eastern division road swing is we won’t see him play against his younger brother Brayden. Sixteen year-old Brayden Schenn is having a great season with the Brandon Wheat Kings, and is the early favorite for Eastern Conference rookie of the year. The Rockets meet the Wheat Kings in Brandon December 12th.
