- Who will be the big winner in the Ty Wishart sweepstakes? Ty Wishart. The team that obtains him will be a playoff contender, adding a piece they believe will give them the best chance of winning a league title. Wishart's prayers will be answered, as he bolts from a team that appears to be selling off with the playoffs now a pipe dream in the opinion of several WHL media members. To play for a contender is any players dream.
- What is Ty Wishart worth on the open market? If the Cougars anticipate a first round bantam pick in return they are dreaming. Wishart is a rent a player, with the highest bidder getting him for a maximum of 25 to 30 games tops. Watch Wishart against the Rockets Friday night, and tell me if you would like to see him in a Rockets uniform.
- How is Ty Wishart handling all of this talk about being traded? Today's modern technology enables Wishart to read every paper and hear every radio report about the impending trade. Until the internet came along, players were clueless when it came to a potential move at the trade deadline.
- Now that Torrie Jung has started three straight games, many people are asking me if Kristofer Westblom's time in a Rockets uniform are numbered. If I was a betting man, Westblom will remain in Kelowna colours, as I don't see him holding a tremendous amount of value on the open market. Westblom hasn't had a bad season, but by his own standards he hasn't been at his best and frankly hasn't stolen a game for the Rockets this season. I see the two goaltenders remaining intact when all is said and done on January 10th.
- Who is going to be traded from the Rockets, if a deal in fact is consummated? GM Bruce Hamilton won't be trading any of the young guys on his roster simply because he believes dealing players in school is a bad thing. So the process of elimination points to the Rockets looking at the 18 year-old's out of school, plus the three-19 year-old's and the three overagers on the roster.
- One question that needs to be asked of the Rockets GM is the status of James McEwan. If McEwan is unable to play for the remainder of this season and the playoffs, do the Rockets free up an overage spot? I'll ask Bruce Hamilton that question on tomorrow's broadcast.
- Where will the Rockets be on trade deadline day? On the bus headed to Prince George. If the bus stops prior to it's planned meal in Quesnel, every player on the bus will be shaking in their boots as a deal has gone down. That or simply the bus driver has to take a leak!
