Trotter is a Non-Issue

I saw the Denver Post article Wednesday about Brock Trotter and inquired about the potential of him joining the Rockets for the remainder of the season. The fact is, it's a non-issue. Trotter played a game after January 10th, the WHL trade deadline, and under league rules any player who plays a game after the 10th with the team he is currently with - even if he is on a WHL teams protected list - is ineligable to play. So in simple terms, Brock Trotter will not be playing with the Rockets this season.

Does that rule apply to Mikael Backlund also?? Congratulations on your 1st year. Enjoy reading your blog & the info on the Rockets!

Backlund is a no-go this season. Correct, WHL teams have to finalize rosters by January 10th. Who you have after the 10th is the team you are stuck with for the run towards the playoffs and beyond.
