WHL Referee Representative at Memorial Cup is.....

Chris Savage. Great choice. I corresponded with W-H-L Director Officiating Kevin Muench, and he confirms Savage is the choice.
Savage, from Medicine Hat, was named the top referee in the WHL this season.

Best Referee in the WHL, there is not even a close 2nd to him. Chris is not afraid to make a call regardless of the situation. Chris should be on his way to the NHL, but he may not have that as a career choice. Anytime I have talked with him (briefly this year) he has been cordial and professional. Never has the big "ego". Realizes the game is not about him.

Chris will represent the WHL well on the officiating team. Well done WHL on selecting the best official you have to attend the Memorial Cup.

(As a side note) When the Rockets won the Memorial Cup in 2004, guess who the referee was?

lol yeah, he isn't afraid to make a call. Would you still feel that way had the Rocket's got called on a cheesy play in OT in game 6? I doubt it.

I FORGOT TO SAY HOW HAPPY I AM ABOUT CHRIS SAVAGE BEING AN OFFICIAL AT THE MEM CUP. I FIND HIM TO BE A VERY FAIR REF AND DOESN'T MAKE THE GAME ALL ABOUT HIM. THAT PAT SMITH SHOULD GO DOWN TO REFERRING BANTAM.

Rocketwatcher you said what a ton of us felt in these games. Would Regan be singing the praises of Savage had we lost Benn, Backlund, and Almond to head high shots? No horsepower no win. All we can do now is hope that the refs let the kids decide the series.
