F.Y.I

  • Rockets rookie camp begins this afternoon at 5 o'clock with registration, with those players meeting with the coaching staff shortly after that. Close to 175 rookies will take part in the four day camp.
  • On ice sessions begin tomorrow morning at 7 am at Prospera Place. Close to 10 teams will compete in on-ice scrimmages, with the camp coming to a close Sunday afternoon with the final workout at 1:30.
  • Main Camp begins Monday August 24th with registration and a meeting with the coaches. The veterans take to the ice Tuesday through Thursday of next week.
  • The Rockets first round pick from this summers draft will be unable to participate in drills. Fifteen year-old Jason Siebert underwent shoulder surgery in June after dislocating his shoulder. Siebert is at camp, but only as an observer.

Blades Camp has opened here in Saskatoon as well and they only have about 70+ players attending. I would guess that the Rockets may have the biggest turnout of players attending WHL camps?

Hey Mike. Thanks for the visit and the info. This will be one of the Rockets biggest camps ever. It will be interesting to see who in fact shows up and who the no shows are. I heard the Rockets could have as many as ten American born players at rookie camp.

As far as I know only 1 American born player will be at Blades camp,I could be wrong though, and with the renavations to the Credit Union Centre, everyone hopes that it will attract more players. The Blades will have probably about 10 regulars out of the line up for opening night including both of last years goalies who will be attending NHL camps.

It looks like the Blades European pick Hampus Gustafsson did make his way over here. You probably would know if the Rockets new Import made his way over there eh? I read your blog on a regular basis great job. keep up the good work!!
